Prayer Warriors: Stewards of God's Will on Earth
John Hanson, his wife, Carolyn, and son, Philip, reside in Thompson, CT, where he has served as the bishop of Acts II Ministries for eight years. He is an alumni of Jackson College of Ministries and earned a B.S. in Special Education and Elementary Education from Southwest Texas State University. After twenty years of full-time ministry, he felt directed to compile this series of clinics to inspire believers to develop an effective prayer life. Acts II Ministries has been utilizing prayer groups for the past five years with very positive results. This series has been the curriculum for their small group ministry for the past two years.
Volume One
An Introduction to Prayer
This first volume of prayer clinics will teach some "big ideas" - concepts that can make prayer more effective. Prayer group members will be exposed to several different kinds of prayer. There will be occasion to learn why and how prayer works. Some enemies of prayer will be exposed. Students will learn how group prayer should work and how Christians can help one another during times of prayer.
Volume Two
Rational Prayers
Prayer is communication with God. This communication is often simply having a rational conversation with God. Communication with God builds relationship. Volume Two will explore revival praying and ways in which prayer warriors can better relate to God by praying about things they understand -- praying what they know to pray about. They will learn how to obtain forgiveness and peace through prayer. In these prayer sessions, believers will be encouraged to receive good blessings from God and pass blessings on to other people.
Volume Three
Kingdom Prayers from Healed Hearts
This volume focuses on how to pray "from the heart." During these sessions prayer warriors will encouraged to let God heal their hearts so they can pray more effectively; they will be encouraged to let God give them a "new self esteem" based on His grace and truth.
It is only after developing a relationship with God and gaining a healthy self-image that one can pray kingdom-minded prayers. These are prayers that release the will of God on earth. This kind of praying requires a pure heart, selfless motives, and a great deal of commitment and hard work. God is the inspiration behind such prayers but the prayer warrior must choose to agree with God to the extent that they will "spend themselves" in order to gain the kingdom. This volume of prayer clinics will teach the prayer warrior to find out what God wants and then to pray His will. May His will be done on earth!
Volume Four
Praying in the Spirit
This volume of prayer clinics will lead prayer warriors into a dimension of prayer where God does the praying through them. These prayer times will be built on the foundational concepts already covered in this series. It is important that students understand that a pure heart, kingdom-mindedness, confidence that God answers prayer, a deep relationship with God, etc., are prerequisites to being the kind of vessel through whom God can effectively pray.
A primary goal of these lessons is to lead prayer warriors into travail and warfare intercession. This can only be accomplished through instruction coupled with impartation and modeling. The prayer facilitator is encouraged to seek God diligently and pray for divine visitations as prayer warriors climb higher on their prayer journey.
Volume Five
Prayers That Prevail
Prevailing prayer is the kind of prayer historically associated with all major revivals or "awakenings." It is a dimension of prayer that requires tenacity, selflessness, submission and faith in greater measure than any kind of prayer previously dealt with in this manual. This is a dimension of prayer that is infrequently explored due to the sincerity, purity and effort required.
In this volume, prayer warriors will learn the value of, and the need for, persistence in prayer. They will be taught the believer's role in making a way for God, and for binding and loosing God's will on earth. These lessons will stress that God wants to create life, wholeness, liberty, etc. through the prayers of His people.
The prayer warrior must keep in mind that God is the power and authority and they are simply God's representative. As with all soldiers, discipline and submission are pre-requisites to being victorious. A good soldier must have confidence in God, in God's work in them, and in the power of their God-inspired prayers. They will pray words that create; God will act creatively, using their prayers.
Volume Six
Prayers That Move Mountains
The first half of this volume explores a rarely experienced area of prayer - ultimate communication with God. A prayer warrior must believe for an ideal prayer life, and accept the process that will move them from where they currently are toward that ideal place of unity where the "perfect prayer warrior" can operate. God bless you as you seek complete Unity with God, a pure spirit, and pure faith. May God develop you until he has complete access to, and control over, your body, soul and spirit.
Prayers For Special Occasions
The clinics in the second half of this volume are designed for prayer meetings on or near holidays. The idea is to help prayer warriors apply prayer to every aspect of life. These clinics may provide opportunities to introduce non-Christians to prayer, using familiar holiday themes.
